As India enters its 75th year of independence, the government is commemorating Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav to honour the country’s illustrious history following its liberation from British domination. A few days ago, the Ministry of Culture issued a soul-stirring anthem—a melodic ode to the Tricolor—under the auspices of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav. The campaign urges supporters to hoist the Tiranga to commemorate India’s 75th anniversary of independence.
Celebrities like Kapil Dev, Anupam Kher, Anushka Sharma, Virat Kohli, Mirabai Chanu, Prabhas, Neeraj Chopra, Mithali Raj, MC Mary Kom, and others could be seen in the video anthem Har Ghar Tiranga, which has been sung by Asha Bhosle, Sonu Nigam, and Amitabh Bachchan.
It is indeed interesting to note that the composer of the Har Ghar Jhanda anthem, filmmaker Kailash Surendranath, is also credited for the 2010 Republic Day campaign Phir Se Mile Sur, a replica of the legendary Mile Sur Mera Tumhara ad. This time, Surendranath collaborated on this song’s completion with his son Angadveer and wife Aarti Surendranath.
Netizens have praised the initiative, and many want to fly their nation’s flags over their residences and places of employment.
The Union Culture Ministry has developed the interactive website www.harghartiranga.com where users can pin a digital flag and upload selfies with it in order to boost the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign. Additionally, it includes step-by-step directions for adding the Tiranga filter to Stories and Reels as well as using the flag as a profile image on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. The website also has the phone numbers of reputable sellers of national flags in each area.
According to brand consultant Abhimanyu Mishra from Brandfizz, the Har Ghar Tiranga Campaign has not just spurred a distinct form of patriotism, but it has helped several medium and small-scale manufacturers, vendors, and logistic operators who have found themselves in high demand as the Independence Day week draws near. Customers are swarming to flag makers and retailers to purchase their own flags for this Independence Day as a result of the campaign and the way it is marketed.
